Is this ‘Make America Great Again?’

Posted on March 16, 2025March 17, 2025 by Mike Weland

It seems amazing, but there are still millions of Americans insisting despite all evidence to the contrary, that president Donald John Trump is moving our nation in the right direction. Despite the new presidential crimes, from which he’s immune. Despite the violations of the constitution he swore to uphold. Despite an amazing flurry of activity so brash and intentionally overwhelming that no one can keep up with just how wrong, how awful, much of what he’s doing is.

Ever growing numbers of MAGA, being hurt and seeing others hurt, are starting to question, starting to see that what Trump is truly offering is opposite what they expected. They’re starting to pull away from the cult.

And as expected, while Trump pushes every ignoble extreme and speaks “Truths” to the most egregious lies, those MAGA faithful get more intransigent, more angry, more rude … more dangerous.

Before 2015, people on the fringe mostly kept their more radical tendencies, be they white supremacist or Christian nationalist, to themselves, even while castigating a Black man with the temerity to not only run for president, but to be competent at the task. Now, our government is being administered in large part by lunatics from the fringe, as are those admiring the chaos, all called forth by the Pied Piper, Donald Trump.

On this continent, we can trace the illness now flaring painfully again back to October 12, 1492, when three boats of white folk landed on an island in the Bahamas called Guanahani, renamed it San Salvador, meaning “holy savior,” and declared the dusky, gentle folk and the land they’d occupied for untold millennia “discovered.”

Those two notions, that white people of European descent are superior and that theirs is the only God, have been a plague on this nation ever since. What Donald Trump seems to offer now is but false validation of false ideologies and the fear of adherents who think their false status is being stolen from them, not only by those of darker skin tone, but by traitors of their own race who believe the obviously false ideal that all men, all people, are created equal.

Most of what Trump and his merry band of misfits have done since January 20, has been outlined in the conservative Republican (both words usurped to make their objectives more palatable) handbook, “Project 2025,” to codify white supremacy, Christian Nationalism and the illogical fallacy that all resources are infinitely sustainable.

You can see Trump’s duplicity in the propaganda he posts on his official presidential website, whitehouse.gov. Click on “Presidential Actions” for a complete rundown of executive orders issued since the onset of his second term.

Don’t go by the titles, actually read the content, see if you can discern any patterns. Hint: To date, Trump has signed 92 executive orders. Two thirds aligning with project 2025, some going after private law firms that that represented his “oppressors.” Many of them blame Joe Biden for the very same “crises” he dreamed up to fire up his cult in 2015; an invasion across our southern border, a nation overwhelmed by woke.

Many are in court to determine if they are legal and/or constitutional.

One thing is clear, if you look beyond the title, few to none address any of the things of concern to any who have nothing to lay on the altar of Trump. Likewise his two recent speeches, one to Congress, one to the Department of Justice.

Don’t go by Fox commentary, actually listen to them or, better yet, look up the transcripts and read them, no matter how painful. They’re both full of the cult leader’s credo; scare the masses, blame others, assure them you and only you can fix it and above all, be vague. Or, as P.T. Barnum so aptly put it, “if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.”

Those who believe Donald Trump is deliberately breaking down our justice system, our economy, our government, our global standing and even our moral code of what’s right and wrong with the intention of “Making America Great Again” are in for a rude awakening. He’s breaking every trust and friendship with impunity, with only one goal — to assuage his ego by proving to his dead daddy that he’s just as rough and tough and heartless as old dead Fred, that he deserved his respect instead of his scorn.

And the poor little oppressed and beleaguered rich kid that Donald Trump is; never responsible, ever the victim, will gladly destroy the last best hope of Earth and leave a once great nation a shambles to do so.
