If you’re the richest man in the world with the means to contribute over $277-million to a presidential candidate in a country you’re not a citizen of, in Trump-World, where ethics are nothing more or less than quid pro quo, you know you’ll be getting big things in return, and boy, howdy, the president of the United States of America isn’t letting him down.
On the first day, Elon Musk was appointed head of a newly-made-up cabinet position, the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, where he has such sweeping powers it’s hard to tell whether he stands behind, equal to or ahead of the president himself in the leadership hierarchy of the U.S. executive branch. Unlike all the other clowns in the Confederacy of Dunces now running the administration, Musk was not fawned over and rubber stamped by a Republican-dominated legislative branch with the duty of vetting presidential appointments to high office that has all but ceded its responsibilities and authority to Trump and the cult of MAGA, but he’s been given more real power and authority than any three of them combined and he’s using none of it to Make America Great Again.
It is believed that Musk, like Trump, is doing this out of the goodness of his heart, taking no paycheck for serving this country. Of course, he and his companies make around $8-million a day off U.S. government contracts and two of his companies, Space X and Tesla, received about $3.1-billion in federal grants, so it’s not like his magnanimity is going unrewarded.
And it’s not like there can be any personal gain to his having nearly full access to much of our government’s data as he sends in his own bright young engineers to extract the data that will best serve his inteerests as he decides with so little rhyme or reason which federal services he’ll cripple or end or how many faceless public servants he’ll arbitrartily throw out in the street. But it’s okay. He’s got the data, Social Security, voter rolls, contract lists and more. But …
“We are concerned that you have engaged in an unlawful firing spree that includes dozens of Senate-confirmed government officials,” Congressional Democrats wrote the president March 3.
“Many of the individuals you have targeted lead federal agencies and offices that are investigating or prosecuting companies belonging to Elon Musk, one of your top advisors, for violations of a wide swath of federal safety, labor, intelligence, and other rules and laws.”

But, you say, the official DOGE website says their efforts to date have saved taxpayers an estimated $130-billion, $807.45 for each taxpayer in the nation! He’s cutting waste and fraud and draining the swamp!
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And and Trump’s whitehouse.gov is a sure source of truth directly from our president to you.
While the numbers on the DOGE website are amended downwards as “fake news” outlets call out myriad discrepancies, many of the rapid and haphazard actions taken early on are now being challenged in courts, and there is, at present, no way to know how many more suits are coming.
Tearing down does not necessarily equate to efficiency, and the way Musk is going about it is not going to save our taxpayers, but will deprive them of government services they need and rely on. Nothing thus far indicates any honest effort by either Elon Musk or co-president and golfer in chief Donald Trump.
Oh — South African Musk, supporter of apartheid, is a politically promiscuous paramour. In addition to wooing the weak kneed and swooning Trump, Musk is waving dollars at right-wing candidates and causes in Argentina, China, Taiwan, Germany, Israel, Iran, Russia, Ukraine and England, to name a few.
You gotta hand it to our president: He sure knows how to pick ’em. Hasta la vista, Elon.
