We must rally to save Trump’s helpless gullible

In legal proceedings and congressional hearings, Donald J. Trump’s big lie is clearly starting to unravel, but believers of the lie are clearly not hearing the truth, preferring instead to get their “news” from outlets that pander to a liar. That’s evident in the fact that Republican voters across the nation this primary season are still consistently voting for those who buy into the lie, who echo the false assertions, who grovel before the golden calf and echo the condescending catch words and phrases; “conservative,” “woke,” “RINO,” “critical race theory,” “replacement theory.”
In asserting fake oppression, they overlook the word “gullible.”
Here in North Idaho, voters in our primary favored such candidates as the inimitable “liberty legislator” Heather Scott, right-wing Christian zealot Scott Herndon and gun toting, flag waving county commission candidate Steve Fioravanti. Statewide, big lie proponent Dorothy Moon came within a step of winning the GOP nod for secretary of state and was subsequently elected chair of the Idaho Republican Party.
Individual liberty attorney general candidate Raul Labrador, who promises to push back against “Biden’s unconstitutional overreach, defend our state’s sovereignty, protect our Idaho conservative values and keep our families safe,” spouts nonsense without actually invoking any principals or facts of law.
“The Biden Administration seeks to replace the will of Idaho’s citizens with President Biden’s pro-abortion priorities,” he wrote in a statement in response to a DOJ lawsuit challenging Idaho’s anti abortion trigger law.
It’s a common ploy in this era of Trump Republicanism as now practiced. It’s blowing smoke up susceptible butts with absolutely no semblance of legitimate substance.
Instead of engaging in logical debate, the sanctimonious launch silly attacks on character easily disproved by review of objective and verifiable evidence … except they refuse to see evidence because they shun the “fake news” their favored leaders warn them against.
But there is good news. Trump’s preferred “news” sources are unraveling rapidly as well.
Though word hasn’t yet reached Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson or the crew at Fox, owner Rupert Murdoch has allowed his editorial boards at both the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal to declare, “Trump is unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.” He is hearing truth as presented by the January 6 Select Committee. Though he’s reprehensible, he’s not stupid.
Then there’s the “truth” professed by Alex Jones, the fiery host of Info Wars, one of Trump’s self-professed heroes.
““Your reputation is amazing,” Trump told Jones in a 2015 interview. “I will not let you down.”
Trump didn’t let him down, but Jones’s reputation, his integrity, has suffered a setback of late. He stands to lose his fortune as judges laugh off his insupportable claims of bankruptcy. He is, due to his lies, guilty of defamation for disparaging the parents of elementary school students gunned down December 14, 2012, at Sandy Hook Elementary.
Despite his sworn assertions to the contrary, he was today proved, beyond a reasonable doubt, an abject liar and despicable opportunist. “Stand back and stand by!”
It’s becoming more clear by the day that Donald Trump and all whom he elevated and empowered, including Congressional sycophants and those by nepotism, committed a serious and unforgivable assault on this nation.
Those who stand up for him are complicit and gullible, and they’re each toppling established rights in favor of a liar and a would-be despot.
